Dorjee Tamang: From Humble Beginnings to a Recognized Musical Journey

In the hills where music often blends with culture and community, Dorjee Tamang’s journey stands as a story of passion, persistence, and growth. His path into music began at a very young ageβ€”long before stages, competitions, or recognition came into the picture.

Early Inspiration

At just 10 years old, Dorjee was deeply inspired by his elder brothers, who would gather in groups playing traditional acoustic guitar while enjoying music together. Those simple yet powerful moments sparked his curiosity and love for music. What began as admiration soon turned into dedication, as he spent years practicing and refining his skills.

First Steps into the Music Scene

After years of practice, Dorjee began to get noticed by local bands, eventually earning an opportunity to perform at New Light Clubβ€”a significant early milestone in his journey.

A turning point came when he encountered Inspire Band Darjeeling, where he saw advanced musical equipment and experienced the true energy of live band performance. That exposure shaped his vision of what music could become.

Determined to improve, he joined basic guitar classes after completing his junior school, building a stronger foundation for his musical career.

Band Journey & Early Performances

In 2010, Dorjee formed his first band, marking a major step forward. Their first show took place on 23rd August in Soreng, a memorable debut that set the tone for future performances.

The band included members:

  • Niraj (vocalist)

Over time, the band built a strong presence in the local music scene. However, after nearly seven years together, they eventually parted ways due to personal reasons.
