Early Connection with Music

For Binay Tamang, music was never just a hobby—it was a calling. From an early age, he felt a deep connection to rhythm and sound. His musical journey began with the drums, becoming the first instrument he mastered.

Over the years, he performed with local bands and played at various concerts, gaining over a decade of experience as a drummer. These early performances laid a strong foundation for his artistic growth.

Discovering the Art of Songwriting

As his musical journey evolved, Binay’s interest extended beyond performance into writing and composition. During his college years, he began writing poems and lyrics—transforming thoughts and emotions into creative expression.

Although he initially struggled with the guitar, his determination pushed him forward. With continuous practice, he developed his skills and began composing original songs.

The First Breakthrough

A major milestone came in 2022, when Binay collaborated with his friend Anthony to create their song “Khai Kaha Chu.”

Despite limited resources and recording equipment, they:

• Composed the song independently
• Recorded it in their own room
• Released it on YouTube

This DIY project marked the beginning of his journey as an independent music creator.

Formation of “Swalamban”

Building on this momentum, Binay went on to form his band Swalamban, where he took on the role of vocalist.

As a band, they released their debut track “Soch”, showcasing their evolving musical identity. The group has since created several songs that are yet to be released, reflecting their commitment to growth and experimentation.

Music as Purpose

For Binay Tamang, music is more than performance—it is a source of meaning and fulfillment. Whether listening or creating, music remains at the core of his life.
